Em Abril tinha-se dado o segundo incidente de Fuzhou, provocado pela revogação dos direitos à educação e em resistência contra a violência do imperialismo e o governo militar que prendia estudantes. Nesse dia, a Federação de Estudantes de Fujian fez uma declaração e baniu a importação de tecidos estampados pelas lojas da cidade. Embora Ye Jinglü não negociasse em tecidos, a situação caótica deve ter afectado o seu negócio.

On that day, the Fujian Student Federation made a declaration and banned printed cloth imports going to cloth shops in the city.
