喜壽之年的葉景呂在10月7日（農曆八月十四日）拍攝了這幀頭像。 

葉景呂在照片說明中寫道，這是他人生中第二次遇到的閏八月。時光荏苒，雖有坎坷，人生依然安好，照片中的他透露出掩飾不住的喜悅。雖然就在這一年，葉景呂的左目已失明。

這幀肖像在照相館沖印時，採用了當時尚不多見的暗房處理技術，俗稱“虛光”法，由此使照片畫面更具藝術性。

No “ano da longevidade feliz” Ye Jinglü tirou uma fotografia de rosto no dia 7 de Outubro, o 14º dia do oitavo mês do calendário tradicional chinês. Nas notas desta fotografia Ye Jinglü explica que este dia foi o único segundo mês do duplo oito na sua vida. O tempo passa depressa e de forma imperceptível. Apesar de muitas frustrações, a sua vida permanece boa e pacífica. O seu contentamento não se consegue disfarçar, ainda que neste ano ele tenha perdido a visão no olho esquerdo. O método de vinheta, uma das diversas formas de melhorar uma fotografia, utilizado pelos estúdios fotográficos da época, foi adoptado para dar à fotografia uma qualidade “artística”.

Ye Jinglü in the “year of blissful longevity” had a head portrait made on October 7, the 14th day of the eighth month in the traditional Chinese calendar. Ye Jinglü explains in his photo notes that this day was the only second double- eighth month in his life. Time elapses quickly and imperceptibly. Despite many frustrations, his life was still fine and peaceful. His contentment cannot be concealed, even though that year he has lost the sight in his left eye. 

The vignette method, one of the several ways to enhance a photograph used by the photo studios at the time, was adopted to give the picture an “artistic”’ quality.
