當年的神州大地，山河破碎，民不聊生。作為一名基督徒，葉景呂特地在聖誕日——西曆12月25日這天去拍照，聊以慰藉內心的苦悶。

照片拍攝於福州時代照相館，左下方印有中英文字樣店名。洗印時使用了遮擋法，俗稱“開光”，影像呈現出當時時髦的橢圓型。

Vastas áreas do território da China estão ainda nas mãos dos invasores. cristão, Ye Jinglü, cristão, faz-se fotografar no dia de Natal, 25 de Dezembro, para se consolar na sua angústia e dor. A fotografia está impressa de uma forma usualmente designada “abertura de iluminação”. A imagem central está inserida num passe-partout moderno de formato oval. 

Foi tirada no Estúdio Fotográfico Shih Dai em Fuzhou, com o nome a aparecer em inglês e em chinês na parte inferior esquerda.

Vast swathes of China’s territory are still in the hands of invaders. As a Christian, Ye Jinglü had this photo taken on Christmas Day, December 25, to console him in his distress and pain. The photo is printed in a way commonly called “lighting opening.” The central image is in a fashionable oval shape. 

It was taken in the Shih Dai Photo Studio in Fuzhou, the name appearing in English and Chinese in the lower left of the picture.
